Learning Support Officers« back to home

Classes at St John's are supported by Learning Support Officers, or integration aides, who assist students with additional academic or social needs.

The Learning Support Officers at St John’s are valued members of  the school’s teaching team. Their role in the classroom is challenging and varied as they support at-risk children to meet their Individual Learning Plan (iLP) goals. Working under the direction of a teacher, they offer valuable support in the classroom and are often actively involved in designing Individual Learning Plans that will best suit the children they work with.

The LSO has detailed, practical knowledge about the children they work with and can help to prepare teaching materials that will make learning more accessible.

Under the supervision of the school’s Learning and Teaching Leaders, the St John’s Learning Support Officers are also responsible for running the ERIK literacy program and delivering other literacy, numeracy and speech therapy programs.
