St John's Primary School Clifton Hill
We welcome new enrolments at any year level.
We are a school for those looking to benefit from a small and nurturing environment that has high academic expectations at the heart of their child’s learning. We do this through explicit teaching of evidence based academic programs, including SEL (Social & Emotional Learning, University of Melbourne) which underpins every child’s ability to achieve their best.
We work tirelessly to provide a learning community that is welcoming, inclusive and high performing. Our transition programs are designed to provide every student with the most seamless transition to school as possible.
Our new Preps enjoy connecting with us via our
* Thursday morning Playgroup in the hall (9.30-11am - all welcome),
* our Prep Interview with families and children,
* our 3 week Storytime Art sessions with their new peers
* culminating in a 3 week Orientation program in late Term 4, to further connect our new students, their families with our school.
St John’s School is committed to maintaining a Child Safe environment for all of our children.

Based upon the model from the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Better Buddies program, at St John’s we use our Buddy program as a way to ensure every one of our new students feels safe, valued and connected to us.
Being a Buddy teaches students the values of caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and responsibility. It aims to create positive behaviour, as well as build students’ self-esteem, connectedness, social skills, trust and sense of community.
In 2021, we will be extending our Buddy program to kindergartens in our local area to support them in their transition to school.
Students are required to wear the proper school uniform. Nearly all items can be purchased at the school using the Order Form available at the front office. There is also secondhand uniform available from the Office. There are designated days for children to wear sports uniform.
